- Correct Sexual Relations -

Men were designed and ordered to have sex, primarily to accommodate God, not ourselves. Since we are owned by God by creation or purchase, he also owns our arms, legs, eyes, ears and genitals. That is why he tells us what we can and cannot do, and when and how we are to use our body parts.

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us
1.) make man (male man - female man)
     - in our image (lordship),
     - after our likeness (traits): and
2.) let them have dominion (rule)
     - over the fish of the sea, and
     - over the fowl of the air, and
     - over the cattle, and
     - over all the earth, and
     - over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be
1.) fruitful, (have sex, children) and
2.) multiply, (have many children: children are to have many children) and
3.) replenish the earth, (with people) and
4.) subdue it (tame and control it): and
5.) have dominion (rule)
     - over the fish of the sea, and
     - over the fowl of the air, and
     - over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

God commanded the male and female man to accomplish two principal tasks: 1.) Have babies to replenish the earth and 2.) subdue this world. The Creator constructed man to birth other men who will worship God, and to govern the earth so that it will sustain as many worshipers as possible. Man is to produce the type of spiritual and physical environment that promotes the production of fruitful, healthy worshipers. God wants all men better fit to worship Him.

In effect, God's first command to the male man and the female man was to have sex. They are to obey God's command to be fruitful and multiply. To make more men and women, the male and female man must have sex with each other, not have sex with people of the same gender. God did not forbid us to have sex for pleasure, but He made it clear that His purpose in forming us to have sex, was to multiply and provide Him with more worshipers.

Yet, there must be order in the way the male and female have sex or there will be chaos. So, God created marriage to provide a mechanism by which, sex could be conducted in a holy, responsible and orderly manner. His prescription enables babies to be raised in a holy, stable environment where they can learn from both the male and female parent to reverently love Him, and to be humbly devoted to Him. This is His true desire: the worship of Him in Spirit and in Truth (Jn 4:23-24). Teaching children to respond to God in reverent devotion and Spiritual, truthful worship is a parent's primary duty (Lev 10:11; Dt 4:8-10).

Sex between married men and women is so important, God has commanded there is to be minimal sexual interruption within marriage. He wants nothing to stand in the way of babies being born unto Him within marriage.

1Cor 7:3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

1Cor 7:4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

1Cor 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

defraud:
to deprive a right by deceit
to withhold wrongfully
to embezzle
to cheat

God uses pretty strong words describing His displeasure with those who withhold sex from their spouses.

1Cor 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

1Cor 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

Replacing thoughts of sex with drugs or alcohol, or forcing those thoughts away is not the solution to burning lust, marriage is. Sexual fornication (sex without a marriage covenant) is not the solution to burning lust, marriage is. It is better to marry than burn in lust. It is better to marry than to fornicate. Continued, rebellious fornication is an E-ticket to Hell.

1Cor 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:

1Cor 7:11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
Spouses are to work diligently to maintain their marriage.
1Cor 7:12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

1Cor 7:13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

1Cor 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

The production of children is so important, God will make an accommodation, permitting children to be imputed to holiness, even when one's spouse is an unbeliever. Look at God's mercy! God makes other accommodations because marriage and the production of new worshipers is so important to Him. God permits men to engage in polygynous marriage. Abraham, Jacob, David, and many other godly men had several wives: producing children from most of their marriages.(4)

Note: Faith-to-Faith Ministries is not promoting polygamy. Polygamy is illegal in the U.S., and Christians are commanded to obey the laws of the land where we are residing. However, marriage is so central to understanding God, it is important to know about the marriages that He approved, and the marriages He used to create His original nation. Also, it is important to understand that Christians in plural marriages living in countries that permit polygamy are not in disobedience to God. We in the U.S. sometimes forget that Christians live in many other countries that have different laws and customs.

Yet, God did not permit polyandry. It seems one main reason a woman was not permitted more than one husband simultaneously was very practical; polygyny produces more children (worshipers) for God. One man can impregnate several wives over a single nine month period, but one woman could only be impregnated once in a nine month period, even if she had several husbands.

Dt 25:11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:

Dt 25:12 Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.

It seems reproduction was so important to God that He would severely punish a wife who sought to destroy or injure the genitals of man, though she was only trying to save her husband!
