Wednesday Bible Study
Oct 8, 2008
Jesus is much more than just the Savior and Master. This week's Bible study shows that Jesus' role as Savior is one of His primary jobs. But He has other very important jobs. One of His VERY IMPORTANT jobs is, He is our Healer. Below are Scriptures that show:
Human physicians treat symptoms. Jesus heals. |

| Mat 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching
the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among
the people. Mat 8:7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. Mat 8:13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Mat 12:15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; Mat 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. Mat 15:30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Jesus even healed those who were lame and maimed. This generally means people who were crippled in their hands and/or feet. See also Mt 15:31 & Lk 7:22.Luk 7:3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. Luk 9:42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tore him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father. Luk 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. Luk 14:3 And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? Luk 22:51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. Joh 4:47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. Joh 5:13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Act 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Notice that Jesus heals issues where the cause of the sickness is rooted in the spiritual world. For example, when Jesus would command an afflicting spirit (devil, demon, unclean spirit, familiar spirit) to depart a person, that person would immediately get better as soon as that spirit was departed. |

Matthew 15:21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. :22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. :23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. :24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. :25 Then came she and worshiped him, saying, Lord, help me. :26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. :27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. :28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Mark 1:23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, :24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. :25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. :26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. :27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. |

| Matthew 26:53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me
more than twelve legions of angels? 2 Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. :18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. Daniel 10:12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. :13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, These Scriptures hint at the activity taking place in the spiritual world when Jesus authorizes healing. Can't you almost picture Michael enforcing the obedience of the evil spirits, so that the command from Jesus' is carried out assuring that healing takes place? The power, authority and majesty of Jesus on the earth, and in the spiritual world, is just AWESOME!!! |
